hey everyone, this is caleb typing

we are very excited and anxious to announce that we are about to start tracking for our third album, “notes from underground vol 1”. this is going to be a different recording process for us, because instead of hiring a producer that we dont know personally, we are working with our good friend angelo on this one. angelo has been our friend for 2 or 3 years now and has been recording demo’s for us and perfecting our recorded sound. this recording process will also be different because we are doing it in our hometown, chicago. for our previous albums we went to california and new york, but this one is going to have that down-home feel.

we have been working on preproduction for this album for about 6 months now, making it our most worked-on album and personally, the most anticipated one to date. as most of you know, we have had two new members join the 1997 clan since our last recording. arthi meera is our new vocalist and keyboard/guitar player extrordinaire. her voice is going to give this record that special indescribable feeling that can only be felt in goosebumps. matt wysocki has also joined us on bass, and it feels like stella got her groove back when him and nick are jamming… except we never lost our groove! we have all been taking from a lot of new influences as well as a lot of old ones. we have been listening to a lot of wilco, neutral milk hotel, beirut, sigur ros, and radiohead along with a lot of classic rock and folk music.

this is new ground for 1997 in a lot of ways, and we are beyond stoked to show you all what growth and progress we have made as a band. this is going to be pt 1 of a 3 part series of records (the other two have already been written, and are now fermenting). please keep checking with us to see pictures and video and sneak peaks of new songs! we love you all, this record is for all of you kids who are hungry for something real as fuck!
